Frequently Asked Questions

In case our site wasn't as straight forward as we thought.

General

Tournaments are one of the ways we curate our product designs. Most are open to the public and include a specific theme and a prize for the winning design.

Whenever a new tournament opens, artists from around the world, of all skill levels, submit their designs for you to vote on. Time is limited, so make sure you check back often for new content and to support your favorite artists.

When the tournament ends, we’ll take the most popular design and place it in our store for purchase.

Check out the live tournaments.
Voting is easy.

When you open into a tournament, you will be presented with one of several submitted designs. If you like the design, tap the heart icon, found at the bottom of your screen. A “like” will be added to that artist’s total, improving their chances of winning.

If you don’t like the design, click the thumbs-down icon. We’ll make sure you never have to look at it again. And we’ll also make sure the artist never finds out what happened.

Whichever way you decide, the next design will display and you can continue passing judgement to your heart’s content.
All tournament winners, along with a few other designs chosen by our staff, will be available in our store after a contest ends.

But what if the design you really liked doesn’t win? Have no fear!

During any tournament, you have the option to purchase your favorite designs, on the spot — no questions asked. We call this the “FOMO Shop” (patent-pending).

Learn more about how it works here.
Officially, only winning designs make it into our main store. This means that if your favorite designs aren’t popular enough to take the prize — you may never find them again!

To address the anxiety this might cause, we created the “FOMO Shop” (or, “Fear Of Missing Out” shop). By selecting the FOMObutton during a contest, you can immediately purchase that design, and we’ll print and ship it to you even if it doesn’t win.

As a special bonus for your commitment, we’ll also reward the artist of that design with 3 extra likes added to their total. Just think -- perhaps one day they'll immortalize the winner on a Netflix special and you'll be able to claim "My purchase made that happen!"

Check out the latest tournaments and get your favorites while you can.

For Artists

You’ll need a WAMI account to enter a tournament, so if you don’t have one, click here to create an account, then come back.

If you already have an account, you can head over to the Tournaments page to see what’s available. Each tournament will have a specific theme that your designs should follow as well as a deadline when your artwork must be submitted. Please note that voting may start while designs are still coming in, so the sooner you submit, the better.

When you find a tournament you’d like to enter, click the “Submit Art” button and start filling out the form fields. Note that for this step, you will need to upload certain types of files with specific requirements and you may need to be familiar with a design software.

File requirements will be noted on the submission form, so be sure to check your files before uploading to avoid being rejected.
Things are getting serious now, huh?

You may need some sort of design composition software (Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Procreate, etc).

Each tournament will have its own unique requirements which can be found near the submission form. In this area, you'll also find a link to helpful templates and guides.

Typically, you will be submitting two (2) files:

1. Print-ready File
Your print-ready "source" file is required to be submitted at the proper dimensions (listed on the submission form), with high-resolution (300 dpi), in atransparent png file format. This file will be used for printing your design, so don't screw it up! OK?

Files that do not meet our requirements may be rejected and you will have to resubmit your design.

2. Promotional Art
Your promo art should showcase your design in a way that gives people an idea of how it will look on the final product. No matter which tournament you enter, your promotional art must be submitted as a jpg or png file at 1000 x 1000 px.
You can upload 5 designs per tournament... that's it.

Why? Because everyone secretly hate's the person who puts 100 raffle tickets in the jar -- don't be that person.
WAMI routinely takes on college interns who are looking to make it in the legal field. When you upload a design, this team of crackpots scour every source available to ensure that your submission doesn't violate any of our tournament rules.

Once they're satisfied that your design is eligible for entry, it will be added to the roster and you will see the status updated in your account.
Art is expressive, and we encourage that. However, there are lines that should not be crossed.

WAMI reserves the right to reject any submission that portrays or implies racism, pornography, or anything else that could commonly be considered offensive. In addition, we will reject any designs that include other logos, celebrity likenesses or other copyrighted material. The best advice we can offer is...

"Be cool".
Winners are based mostly on votes. However, we also award "Bonus Points" which can increase your chances of making the cut. Don’t worry — they’re easy to get. Here are just a few ways to rack up the points:

Promote your design!

Throw a link to subs on your social channels and tag #wamiswag in the posts. We love to see fans supporting their favorites and creating buzz. More buzz means more bonus points.

Collect Votes, Obviously

Votes are important! You’ll want to be flirting with those top slots for serious consideration. We’ve enhanced our fraud detection and deployed even more countermeasures to make sure only real votes are getting through. You may not win on votes alone, but a flurry of activity will definitely get our attention.

Use the Sales Multiplier

You already get extra votes for in-tournament sales. More votes equal more bonuses. It’s science.

Be Original

Look, we’re not the godfathers of competitive t-shirt design. That’s why we have a special appreciation for artists who offer original artwork. Have a tournament idea? Let us know and you might have a leg up on the competition.

Impress the staff

Our team reviews every design, and often discusses their favorites over beers and whiskey. If our staff has a strong opinion about a certain design, we take notice. So make us laugh; make us cry; make us question our very existence.

Keep an eye out for special tournament criteria.

Most tournaments have a specific theme or special instructions. Some tournaments may even have a secret message that pays off big for those that decode it. You never know, so pay close attention.

There are lots of ways to get traction too, so start designing and have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We love hearing from you.
The quickest way to spread the word is to click the Share Icon share, which can be found anywhere your design is displayed, and posting it directly to your social platforms.

During a tournament, you can find the share icon on the Voting screen and on the "Dashboard" page of your account.

Pro tip:
Tell your audience about the FOMO Button fomo button so they can pump up your like count. Every FOMO Shop purchase equals 3 additional likes!
Absolutely you can.

Head over to your "Dashboard" page to see all of your active designs and how well they are fairing in the Tournaments.

Don't forget to share your design with your fans, friends and family to boost your rating!
In most cases -- Yes, you retain the rights to your artwork.

When you submit designs to our public tournaments, you are granting WAMI Swag and our affiliates permission to display, print and sell your designs on any product.

Review our Terms of Service here.

Private Tournaments
When you submit designs to a private tournament, ownership of the designs will be determined by the specific terms and conditions posted on that tournament.

Artist Earnings

There are two ways to earn money.

Method #1: WIN!!!
When you enter a tournament, your design is put up for a vote. Collect the most "likes" and you will win the prize listed for that tournament. Easy -- like stealing candy from a baby... only... less creepy.

Method #2: Commission on sales
You will be paid a minimum of 20% Commission anytime a product is purchased with your design on it. This includes sales during the contest via the FOMO Shop and sales directly from our regular store lineup.

Keep in mind, that's 20% of the sale price; not some rounded down number from a spreadsheet you'll never see. So for example, if Sally buys a shirt with your design on it for, let's say $20, you'll receive $4 in commission (because 20 x .20 = 4).

To quote our friend Bob Parr, "Math is MATH!" -- it's incredible.

All earned money will be added to your WAMI account where you can Request a Payout when your balance is over $20.
You can track your commissions on the "Commissions" screen of your account.

Here you will see every design which has collected prize money and/or received orders from our shop, along with the totals earned by each design.

You will also see your available balance, payment history and lifetime earnings.

Please note that commissions are awarded once an order is shipped from our top-secret warehouse. So don't worry if your balance doesn't skyrocket immediately after that $1,300 order your grandma just placed.
As much as we'd love to keep collecting interest on your money, we've made it super easy to request a payout. Just head over to your Commissions page and click

Request Payout

What's that, you don't see the button? This means one of two things.

1. You still need to setup your Paypal account.

We leverage Paypal for easy and secure payments to our users.

Head over to the Commissions page, click the ( Setup ) button, and you will be guided through the setup process. Once this gets squared away, you can start requesting payouts.

2. You don't have enough money yet.

The WAMI gods have decided that you must have at least $20 in your account before you can request a payout. Why? Because moving your money around actually requires a bit of our money -- and we want to ensure that everyone is making out good on the deal.

But don't worry -- this isn't some sort of scam. Your money is yours and exceptions can be made in certain extreme situations. Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Also, you can read our Terms of Service for a more jargon-y explanation.
Do you want the IRS knocking on your door? If the answer to that question is "Hell NO!", then the answer to "Am I required to report my earnings as income" is, "Absolutely, Yes!"

The U.S. government requires that you report the money you make from WAMI (or any other source) when you file your taxes each year -- even if you don’t want to.

However, while we here at WAMI are borderline geniuses, we are by no means legal experts -- especially where tax law is concerned. We would recommend seeking out a professional on the matter if you disagree with us.
